About us
Africa Integrated Surgical Centre (AISC) was established in 2021 in response to the challenges posed by the growing complexity
of medical and surgical care. While the shift toward specialization has
significantly improved outcomes in many areas, it has also created gaps,
especially in resource-limited settings. These gaps often manifest as increased
referrals, financial strain for patients, and delays in treatment, which can lead to
suboptimal outcomes, particularly in time-sensitive conditions like cancer.
Rural communities, where access to specialists is limited, have been disproportionately affected by this trend. Many patients face long journeys to access care, compounded by the financial burden of multiple consultations and delayed diagnoses. Recognizing these challenges, AISC aims to bridge the gap by offering a multidisciplinary surgical care model under one roof.
Discover Health TipsOur Goal
Currently, AISC is spearheaded by Dr. Tobiko, a highly skilled surgeon
specializing in laparoscopic and gastrointestinal surgery. However, the long-
term vision is to assemble a team of surgeons across various specialties,
including: Neurosurgery, Orthopedics, Pediatric Surgery, Surgical Oncology, Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, ENT and Maxillofacial Surgery
By bringing together specialists under one roof, AISC aims to streamline the
referral process, reduce financial burdens, and ensure timely, patient-centred
care.
The Role of Specialization in Our Model
While specialization and subspecialization are pivotal for advancing medical
care, their benefits are best realized when seamlessly integrated into a cohesive
system. AISC's model leverages the strengths of specialized care while
addressing its challenges by fostering collaboration among specialists and
ensuring a holistic approach to treatment.
Key Advantages of the AISC Approach:
- Comprehensive Care: Patients receive end-to-end treatment, from diagnosis to recovery, within one centre.
- Reduced Delays: On-site specialists ensure prompt diagnosis and treatment, particularly for urgent conditions.
- Cost Efficiency: By minimizing the need for external referrals, AISC reduces the financial burden on patients.
- Accessibility: The centre aims to expand access to specialized care in underserved areas, particularly rural communities

At AISC, we believe that specialization, when integrated effectively, is not an
obstacle but a cornerstone of advanced, equitable healthcare. Our mission is to
redefine surgical care by combining the expertise of specialists with a
commitment to accessibility and patient-centred outcomes.

How we do it
Africa Integrated Surgical Centre (AISC) was founded in 2021 to address the growing challenges in medical and surgical practices. The shift towards specialization has increased referrals, leading to financial strain, treatment delays, and suboptimal outcomes, particularly for cancer patients. Rural communities have been especially affected by these issues.
